The Challenge

Fragmented Objectives and Conflicting KPIs

NetOnNet AB is known for offering consumer electronics at lower prices than its competitors, both through its e-commerce platform and its 32 warehouse stores across Sweden and Norway.

In 2019, NetOnNet set ambitious targets and built a detailed business plan full of initiatives. But with too many KPIs and no clear strategic focus, its objectives became scattered and reactive. The overlap and conflict between objectives and metrics made it difficult to align efforts and maintain long-term direction.

The core challenge was to unite the organization around a few shared, strategic objectives — and create a clear roadmap for execution.

The Information Company supported NetOnNet in sharpening its performance management approach — bringing clarity, stronger follow-up, and alignment throughout the business.

A key turning point was focusing on what to achieve before diving into how to get there. We helped develop a long-term direction that could be broken down into concrete, actionable objectives.

By reducing the number of KPIs and focusing only on what truly mattered, NetOnNet was able to prioritize one critical objective for the first year. We then helped cascade and anchor that objective across teams — creating clarity, alignment, and stronger engagement throughout the organization.

Follow-up processes were established as a central way to stay on track, adjust as needed, and ensure every action supported the strategy.

The Solution

A shared focus

The Results

Stronger Growth and a Growing Customer Base

While the industry as a whole saw growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, NetOnNet managed to outperform the market. Its strengthened performance management enabled it to gain additional market share and accelerate its development.

Internal alignment improved, cross-functional collaboration increased, and leadership teams were better equipped to make clear, unified decisions — all driving toward the same objectives.

When Susanne Holmström became CEO of NetOnNet in 2018, the company had access to an enormous amount of data and KPIs — but lacked a shared understanding of what really mattered.

In this webinar, Susanne shares how NetOnNet used performance management to create a common focus and tap into the full power and knowledge of the entire organization.
